In a significant escalation of regional tensions, the Afghan Taliban Supreme Leader issued a direct and stern warning to neighbouring nation of Pakistan on the occasion of Eid.
According to a recently released audio message, which was accessed by News18, Taliban Supreme Leader Amir al-Mu’minin Sheikh Hibatullah Akhundzada delivered an address to the Afghan people during an Eid message in Kandahar, making it clear that the country will not tolerate foreign interference.
Akhundzada’s message focused on the Taliban’s resilience, specifically citing their historic victory over NATO and western coalitions. He stressed that this past success proves the movement is entirely uninfluenced by superior military technology or the sheer scale of international power.
He said they are “not afraid of military power of any country", adding that they would have been defeated long ago in the war against the international coalition if they were susceptible to such intimidation. Islamic convictions must remain unshakable, even when faced with direct military threats, he added.
Akhundzada further said “true believers" must stand firm despite external pressures like “threats, bombings, and artillery attacks", as these cannot weaken the “spirit of the Afghan people or the mujahideen". Even under the duress of direct bombing or artillery fire, Muslims should never abandon their faith or core beliefs.
According to top intelligence sources, the message served as a pointed warning to Pakistan against meddling in Afghan affairs. Akhundzada stressed that no external force possesses the authority to dictate the nation’s internal or ideological direction.
The sources said he also warned that cross-border pressure or military posturing by Pakistan would be treated as an act of hostility, concluding that any attempt to destabilise the country from across the border would be “dangerous" and met with firm resistance.
