South African spinner Prenelan Subrayen has been cleared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to continue bowling in international cricket after being reported for an illegal bowling action during the first ODI against Australia in Cairns on August 19, 2023.Following the report, Subrayen underwent an independent bowling assessment at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane on August 26. The assessment revealed that his elbow extension for all deliveries was within the ICC's permitted 15-degree level of tolerance.

The 31-year-old spinner was rested for the final two ODIs against Australia after the initial report.This clearance comes after multiple instances of scrutiny over Subrayen's bowling action throughout his career.
In December 2012, Cricket South Africa placed him in a rehabilitation program after two independent tests deemed his action illegal.He received clearance to bowl in January 2013 after completing remedial work and re-testing.Subrayen faced further challenges when he was reported during the Champions League T20 in India in September 2014 and again during a domestic T20 match in November 2015. These assessments found his deliveries exceeding the 15-degree tolerance, resulting in a bowling suspension.
