HUBBALLI: The North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) will soon launch a commercial software app, an app-based solution to enhance the management of rent collection, tendering, and other processes for its commercial establishments.
A software company was commissioned to develop the application, and trial runs are currently underway. The transport corporation oversees more than 1,300 commercial establishments across six districts under its jurisdiction. At present, rent collection and tenant-related information are handled manually. The new application will enable tenants to make rent payments remotely without visiting depots, through digital payments, and streamline the entire process. The app will maintain a comprehensive database of all commercial establishments, including details of tenants, rental agreements, payment history, and due dates. This digital transformation will significantly reduce paperwork and minimise human errors in record-keeping. This digital transformation aims to establish a more transparent operational system. The new app will feature a user-friendly interface where tenants can view their rental statements, receive payment reminders, and access important documents.
The system will automatically generate receipts for payments made and send notifications for upcoming dues. For NWKRTC officials, the app will provide real-time monitoring of rent collection, pending payments, and occupancy status across all locations.A source in NWKRTC said the app will include a grievance redressal mechanism where tenants can raise concerns or report maintenance issues. This feature will help NWKRTC to promptly address problems and maintain good relationships with tenants.
Additionally, the app will generate detailed reports and analytics to help NWKRTC management make informed decisions about commercial property utilisation and rental pricing.
The digital system will also help identify defaulters quickly and take necessary action. Once fully operational, the system is expected to improve revenue collection and provide better service to tenants while reducing the administrative burden on NWKRTC staff, sources added.Priyanga M, Managing Director, explained that the app was created to focus on commercial properties owned by NWKRTC. This pioneering app-based system in the state is currently undergoing trials and will be officially released within a week. The Telangana state has already implemented and refined such an application effectively. The NWKRTC version was created by incorporating specific modifications to suit its requirements. The software firm responsible for developing the application will handle its maintenance and operations, receiving a monthly payment of one lakh. The public can access the app to view comprehensive information about tendered shops, including details about vacant premises, shops approaching tender expiration, and other relevant data. "Additionally, the application features an automated system that generates notices for establishments nearing the end of their tender period," she said.
