The Odisha government on Saturday (October 25, 2025) gave green signal to 33 industrial projects worth ₹1.46 lakh crore including Adani Enterprises Limited’s massive coal to chemical project at an estimated investment of ₹84,000 crore in Sundargarh district.

The approval marks completion of 500 days under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

Of the 33 projects, 12 are big ticket industrial projects with a total investment of ₹1,41,993.54 crore having potential to generate 49,745 jobs.

These projects are distributed across diverse sectors — from traditional heavy industries like aluminium, steel, and power, to emerging sectors such as green hydrogen, electronics, and rare earth materials.

Adani Enterprises Limited will set up coal to chemical project in Sundargarh district at an investment of ₹84,000 crore. The project alone has employment potential of 36,000.

According to government, investments have been strategically spread across 14 key districts — Angul, Balangir, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Khordha, Puri, Sambalpur, and Sundargarh — ensuring balanced industrialization and inclusive regional growth.

“These 500 days reflect a confident, progressive, and investment-ready Odisha. The trust shown by investors from across India and abroad highlights the strength of our policies, the speed of governance, and our vision for a self-reliant and developed State,” said Mr. Majhi in a statement.

According to industries department, in the past 500 days, Odisha has conducted 12 Single Window and 7 High Level Clearance Authority meetings, approving 330 projects with a total investment potential of Rs. 7.7 lakh crore, spanning diverse sectors such as metals, chemicals, textiles, food processing, and information technology.

“These approvals are expected to generate approximately 4.7 lakh employment opportunities across the state. In addition, 76 projects were fast-tracked and grounded, while 8 projects were inaugurated, with a combined investment of ₹2 lakh crore, creating around 1.63 lakh direct employment opportunities across various skill-sets,” the government said.
