One held with 552 bottles of spurious liquor in Chatra

Chatra: As many as 552 bottles of spurious liquor, bearing fake labels of prominent IMFL brands, were seized from a SUV during a late-night raid at Vashisth Nagar police station limits of the district on Monday.

Amit Kumar, the officer in-charge of Vashisth Nagar police station, on Tuesday said the SUV was intercepted near the gates of the police station. Its driver identified as Pappu Bhuiyan (30) was arrested. The consignment was found in 23 cartons. The vehicle was also carrying a fake registration plate.The seized liquor included 11 cartons (264 bottles) of whisky and 12 cartons (288 bottles) of beer. Police also recovered two fake number plates of the SUV. “A case has been registered and accused has been sent to judicial remand,” said Kumar. The police, however, did not reveal where the consignment was headed.
