Patna: A 35-year-old man was killed and three others of his family sustained bullet injuries after a violent clash between two groups over an old rivalry under Salimpur police station area in Patna district on Saturday evening.The deceased was identified as Englesh Yadav, son of Kuldeep Yadav, a resident of Bahapur village.To protest the incident, the villagers blocked NH-30 by placing the body on the road. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the crime spot and after much persuasion removed the blockade.Abhishek Singh, SDPO-II of Barh, who also rushed to the spot, said the incident took place around 5.10pm when Englesh, a farmer, and his family were returning home from Jagdamba Mandir after offering prayers in their new truck.“As soon as the truck arrived on the outskirts of the village, a group of over five people stopped their vehicle and started indiscriminate firing. Englesh, who sustained multiple gunshot injuries, died on the spot, while the other three injured were referred to the PMCH after initial medical care,” he said.The SDPO told this reporter that, as per the initial information, both Englesh and the accused are from Bahapur village.
They had been rivals for a long time. About two years ago, a murder took place and to avenge it, the firing incident took place on Saturday. The police are further investigating the matter.Police said the body was sent to Barh sub-divisional hospital for the postmortem. The forensic team was called to the crime spot for investigation. Around 20 empty bullet shells were recovered from the spot. The police also seized the vehicle of the accused.Krishna Kumar, SHO of Salimpur police station, said the injured were admitted to the PMCH. “After the survivors will register the FIR, further action will be taken. The police are trying to identify all the accused involved in the shooting,” he said.
