Marshawn Kneeland, the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive end, has left the world mourning as he passed away tragically last night. The 24 year old had just started his NFL career and has left his family, his fans and the team mourning.But Marshawn Kneeland’s family had experienced death even last year when his mother, Wendy Kneeland, passed away in February 2024, according to The Dallas Morning News. Marshawn Kneeland had opened up about her death and had even posted a heartwarming picture with her, just months before his own death.

A few months ago, in June 2025, the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive end, Marshawn Kneeland, took to his social media to post a number of photos from his life, along with a heartwarming picture from his childhood where he posed for the cameras along with his mother.

The caption of the post read as, “ONE LOVE” and now, fans are emotional over it.A couple of months ago, Marshawn Kneeland opened up to The Dallas Morning News about how tough it has been as he navigated grief over his mother’s death.Marshawn Kneeland said, "It was definitely tough…I just managed it…I had to try to breathe and let all of it out as much as possible with the situation…”The 24 year old player added, "I put myself in the best position and she helped me out a lot just leading up to the draft…She was right there with me.”

Marshawn Kneeland added, "It’s a hard situation just knowing she got to see me potentially going to the NFL and going through [the process]. She’s still with me."A few hours ago, the Dallas Cowboys announced Marshawn Kneeland’s death with a statement that read as, "It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning. Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend, Catalina, and his family…”As of now, the Texas Department of Public Safety has announced that Marshawn Kneeland allegedly passed away due to a self inflicted gun wound. His family has remained silent over the tragedy.
