Parvatipuram MLA Bonela Vijaya Chandra has urged East Coast Railway General Manager Parameshwar Funkwal to take initiative for operation of trains directly to Tirupati and Hyderabad from Parvatipuram of Andhra Pradesh. He mooted this proposal during Railway Zonal Committee meeting held in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the operation of trains to those two cities would benefit people of Parvatipuram, Bobbili, Saluru and border villages of Odisha also. He urged the railway authorities to continue the operation and maintenance of both Parvatipuram and Belagam stations since those had been serving lakhs of people from the British regime.
He said that the closure of railway gate near Belagam station was causing traffic disruptions for people living in 18 surrounding areas. Mr. Vijaya Chandra said that the upgrading of stations and introduction of new trains would benefit railways to get income through sale of tickets and goods services.
