The draft electoral roll of Cuddalore district released on Friday after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has indicated that the names of around 2.46 lakh voters have been deleted on grounds of death, shifting/absent, duplication and non-submission of enumeration form for various reasons.
Releasing the draft electoral rolls, District Election Officer and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar said a total of 19,46,759 lakh voters (9,60,645 men, 9,85,832 women and 282 others) found place in the draft roll.
As many as 1,46,612 electors have been identified as shifted/absent during enumeration, 88,972 identified as dead and 10,844 electors found to have made entry in the rolls at multiple places.
The maximum number of voters deleted are in Bhuvanagiri (35,015), Cuddalore (33,534) and Vriddhachalam (31,824). The least number of deletions happened in Thittagudi (Reserved) 21,975, Panruti (22,741) and Kurunjipadi (24,941).
The deletions were made after field-level verification and cross-checking with Booth Level Agents of political parties.
Genuine electors will be added in the electoral rolls during the next phase of claims and objections period of SIR, which commenced on December 19 and would go on till January 18. The final rolls would be published on February 17, the Collector said.
Kallakurichi district
A total of 11,60,607 voters were enrolled in Kallakurichi district’s voters’ list as of October 27 this year, before the SIR exercise started. Of them, 10,76,278 names have featured in the draft voters’ list and 84,329 electors have been dropped on grounds of being absent, shifted, dead and duplicate, District Election Officer and Collector M.S. Prasanth said.
In Villupuram district, a total of 15,44,625 voters (7,64,377 men, 7,80,042 women and 206 others) found their names in the draft rolls.
