Irked by the disconnection of power supply to hotels, dhabas and other shops near Kurikota Bridge in Kalaburagi taluk, owners of such establishments will block National Highway 50 near Kurikota village on Wednesday.
Owners of commercial establishments Ganesh Chikknagaon and Mehboob Sha addressing the press here on Tuesday said that GESCOM officials have disconnected power supply to 16 establishments near Kurikota Bridge stating that the establishments expanded onto roads and customers are being forced to park their vehicles on the highway, causing traffic congestion.
Mr. Chikknagaon asked why are the authorities targeting commercial establishments only at Kurikota village, if hotels and shops have encroached upon the National Highway on the Vijayapura to Humnabad stretch.
“Earlier, during the road works, we cooperated with the authorities and shifted our hotels away from the road. This time, GESCOM issued notice and disconnected power supply the same day. Our shops and hotels have had no electricity since August 1,” he said.
Owners of all commercial establishment near Kurikota Bridge will block the National Highway on Wednesday demanding the authorities to restore power supply.
