Premkumar, the key accused in the Padiyur double murder case, has been reportedly found dead at a rest house in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand. Though the Uttarakhand police have confirmed the identity of the deceased, an official confirmation will be made by a Thrissur police team once they reach the location.

Premkumar had been absconding after allegedly murdering his wife Rekha, 43, and mother-in-law Mani, 74, in Padiyur, Thrissur, on June 4, and a widespread manhunt was on for him across the country. A Thrissur police team, which was camping in Delhi in connection with the investigation, was informed of his death and has now set out for Kedarnath. The cause of the death is yet to be confirmed.

Premkumar, a resident of Kottayam, had been on the run following the murder of Mani and Rekha. He was earlier convicted in the 2019 murder of his first wife in Udayamperoor. He married Rekha while he was out on bail.
