The Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, in which 26 civilians were killed in cold blood, had the backing of Pakistan’s ISI and Lashkar-e-Taiba on the directions of the country’s political and military officials, according to a report on Tuesday.

The attack, in which people at the Baisaran meadows were targeted after asking their religion, was carried out exclusively by Pakistani terrorists, and no Kashmiri terrorist was included in the plan to ensure secrecy of the conspiracy, Times of India reported, citing sources in the security establishment.

The Pahalgam attack was an “LeT-IDI project “akin to the 26/11 Mumbai attack", sources told TOI, adding that the Pakistani spy agency gave pointed directions to Lashkar commander Sajid Jutt to take only foreign terrorists on board, with minimal local involvement in the plan on a “need-to-know" basis.
