Pakistan Jail Turns Into Battlefield As 216 Inmates Escape Amid Earthquake-Induced Chaos In a dramatic turn of events on Monday, 216 prisoners escaped from Karachi’s District Jail Malir, commonly known as “Bacha Jail", following a series of tremors that shook the region. Three low-intensity earthquakes, measuring between magnitude 3.2 and 3.6, struck within 24 hours, with their epicenter in the Landhi Fault area. The tremors caused cracks in the prison’s walls and a partial collapse, creating the conditions for the mass breakout.Initial reports suggested that the prisoners fled through the main gate, but later investigations confirmed they had exploited the wall breach caused by the tremors to escape. Over 600 to 1,000 inmates were moved out of their barracks for safety reasons during the earthquakes, but as panic spread, prisoners overpowered guards and forced their way out. n18oc_india
