Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday distributed job appointment letters to the next of kin of victims of terrorism, saying the government is committed to supporting terror victims through employment opportunities and legal justice.

“These families, forsaken and forgotten, suffered silently for decades. Stories of their loved ones, brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists, are being brought to the forefront," he said on X.

While speaking at the event, Sinha said hundreds of Kashmiri people were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists and the truth about the suffering families was “deliberately suppressed."

“No one came to wipe their tears. Everyone knew Pakistan-backed terrorists were involved in brutal killings but no one provided justice to thousands of elderly parents, wives, brothers or sisters."

The J&K LG said some Pakistan supporters and sympathisers even received compensation and jobs in the region. Sinha also shared a victim’s ordeal, whom he met on his way to the Amarnath Yatra on June 29.

“A girl told me her story — how her father was brutally killed by terrorists. She said that her mother begged on the streets to pay for her education, while those who committed the murder were given government jobs," he said.

Sinha stated that for nearly three decades, many Kashmiri families affected by terrorism received neither compensation nor justice, while some who supported Pakistan were even granted government jobs. “In many cases, FIRs were not registered, lands were encroached and properties demolished. I assure the people that culprits will not be spared."

“The administration will now reach the doorsteps of all the families who have been waiting for justice for the decades and jobs, arrangements for their rehabilitation and livelihood will be ensured," he mentioned.
