Daltonganj: Palamu administration has intensified preparations for the upcoming civic body elections expected to be announced soon.“The strong room and counting centre have been identified,” said the deputy election officer (municipality), Ratan Kumar Singh.

The strong rooms are located at the Science Block of the Nilamber Pitamber University.The admin, however, is yet to formally send a requisition to the varsity. Vice-chancellor D K Singh said, "This block was used in the 2024 Vidhan Sabha elections during which the facility’s windows and ventilators were walled with layers of brick by the administration for the safety and security of the logistics there.
It took us months to get them removed and make it student friendly. We don't want such defacement of the facility.
”As ballot boxes are to be used in the civic body elections, there is a requirement for a big space and the Science Block fits the bill, said sources.There are 246 polling stations for five civic body elections. Out of this, one is Medininagar Municipal Corporation, having 132 polling stations spread over 35 wards. There is one Bishrampur Nagar Parishad with 20 wards and three Nagar Panchayats, each having 16 wards.
