“Today, with mixed emotions, I announce my retirement from professional cricket,” the cricketer wrote on Facebook. The 36-year-old all-rounder from Bijbehara in south Kashmir told TOI that he informed the BCCI of his decision on Saturday, bringing down the curtain on a 17-year domestic career. “It’s been an incredible journey, one filled with dreams, hard work, joy, and countless memories that I will cherish forever, from local grounds to representing my team and my country,” he said. He added that he will remain thankful to his family, coaches, teammates, and “fans for their love, trust, and constant support throughout this journey. Rasool added that he will continue to stay close to the game. “Though I’m stepping away from professional cricket, I will continue to stay close to the game playing for passion, guiding youngsters, and giving back to the sport that shaped my life,” he said.
