Pawan Kalyan orders aid for all cyclone affected families, assure temporary rock walls along coastline

Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan instructed the Kakinada district administration to ensure that all those affected by the cyclone Montha receive proper compensation, and to ensure accurate assessment of crop loss and property damages. Additionally, he emphasised that the coastal villages in Pithapuram constituency should not face any sanitation or drinking water issue. 

During a video conference on Friday with the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, DRO, RDOs, Pithapuram Area Development Authority and officials of the Panchayat Raj, Roads and Buildings, Agriculture, and Electricity Departments, Mr. Kalyan inquired about the extent of damage caused by the cyclone and the conditions prevailing in Pithapuram constituency. 

He ordered that government aid should reach every affected individual.

Collector S. Shan Mohan reported that 21 mandals and seven municipalities were affected, and a total of 61 houses were damaged. Approximately, 41,932 families, including 27,624 fishing and 313 weaving families, were impacted by the cyclone. Crops damage extended over 21,711 hectares, and 668 acres of horticultural crops like banana and papaya were affected. 

In all, 33,596 farmers suffered losses. In Pithapuram constituency, around 2,500 farmers lost their crops, including paddy and horticultural produce. 

The Dy CM shared that a temporary rock wall at Subbampeta in Uppada coastal area helped prevent sea erosion and announced that similar structures were planned to be constructed in other coastal villages.
