Tech billionaire Elon Musk delivered a thinly veiled jab at US President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace" during a World Economic Forum panel in Davos, using wordplay to suggest the initiative is more about territorial acquisition than conflict resolution.
“I heard about the formation of the Peace Summit and I thought is that piece or… a little piece of Greenland a little piece of Venezuela," Elon Musk quipped while sharing the stage with BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, drawing quiet chuckles from the audience.
“All we want is peace," he added with apparent irony.
The Board of Peace, chaired by Trump, was initially conceived as a small group of world leaders overseeing the Gaza ceasefire plan. However, the administration’s vision has since expanded dramatically, with Trump extending invitations to dozens of nations and positioning the board as a future mediator for global conflicts.
Elon Musk’s comments referenced Trump’s recent territorial rhetoric regarding Greenland and Venezuela, suggesting the “peace" initiative may serve broader geopolitical aims.
The entrepreneur’s remarks come amid a complicated relationship with Trump. Elon Musk has been a Trump ally, though their partnership has weathered a volatile period marked by a dramatic public falling out and subsequent reconciliation over the past year.
Elon Musk On Humanoid Robots
During the panel discussion, Elon Musk pivoted to familiar territory, predicting that humanoid robots would fundamentally transform society by reducing the need for human labor. He envisions a future where robots outnumber people and eventually manufacture other robots.
“There will be such an abundance of goods and services because there’ll be more robots than people," Elon Musk said. He added that “everyone on Earth" would want a robot to care for elderly parents or children, announcing that Tesla plans to begin selling humanoid robots to the public by the end of next year.
Elon Musk’s appearance at the WEF carries a note of irony given his sustained public criticism of the annual gathering. He has repeatedly mocked Davos on his social media platform X, calling it “boring" and describing the WEF as “an unelected world government that the people never asked for and don’t want."
