During the programme, the students were made aware on the segregation of wet and dry waste, the benefits of hand washing, and the steps required to prevent diseases. The MLA asked them to priorotise personal hygiene and advised them to make it a habit.
“Due to the accumulation of rainwater, mosquitoes breed and spread diseases like chikungunya, dengue and malaria. People must ensure that rainwater does not accumulate around their homes,” Commissioner Maurya said. He added that the TMC was creating awareness among the people on various issues with special focus on monsoon hygiene.
“Before the rains begin, we are creating awareness among the public on issues such as garbage removal from canals, door-to-door garbage collection, maintenance of environmental cleanliness, handwashing to prevent diseases, among others. If everyone takes responsibility for the cleanliness of their surroundings, the city will be clean,” she added.
