Like in other states, the Congress also organised a ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod’ rally in Agartala on Saturday, protesting against alleged electoral malpractices in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

The rally started from the Agartala Press Club area, but stopped at the Buddha Mandir area owing to barricades put up by the police. Congress leaders, thereafter, addressed party workers and supporters at the spot.

“We shall continue our struggle for the protection of common people’s democratic rights,” MLA Sudip Roy Barman said.

Lok Sabha MP and All India Congress Committee (AICC) Tripura in-charge Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka said the Election Commission (EC) attacked the Congress without giving any clarification about their charges of electoral malpractices. He also criticised the BJP for acting as the ‘spokesperson’ for the EC.
