Pep Guardiola firmly dismissed dreams of becoming FC Barcelona president, stating he cannot see himself in the role, despite his legendary status and deep ties to the club.

No matter what comes, Pep Guardiola will remain synonymous with Barcelona.

But Guardiola recently crushed one of Barcelona fans’ favourite long-running fantasies — a future where the club’s most iconic modern coach returns, not to the dugout, but to the presidential box.

The Manchester City boss, still revered in Catalonia for building the greatest Barca side in history, has always been at the centre of “will he come back?" talk.

Some hope he’ll manage the Blaugrana again one day. Others dream even bigger: Guardiola as FC Barcelona president, leading the club from the top.

The City manager, who recently hit another major milestone, coaching his 1000th professional match, in a rare and refreshingly blunt moment during an interview with RAC1, shut that conversation down immediately.

“Becoming Barcelona president? I don’t reject Barca. You’re always a fan of where you started. But me with a tie in the presidential box? No, I personally can’t see myself doing that," he said.

It’s the first time Guardiola has publicly addressed (and dismissed) the idea. And he didn’t stop there.

He went on to explain why the Barcelona presidency is a uniquely chaotic, high-pressure job, even by football’s wild standards.

“Barca is unique in this regard because everyone has their say. Only the people on the inside should pay attention to the noise. That’s why it’s the biggest club in the world and the most special: because everyone wants to run for president; that’s why we can do this," Guardiola added.
