COIMBATORE: Personnel of the special units of the Coimbatore city police have been provided with vests to enhance their visibility during their duties.City police commissioner A Saravana Sundar on Wednesday distributed 60 vests to the personnel attached to the dog squad, also known as the K9 Squad, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the forensic unit.According to police sources, personnel from the dog squad, BDDS and the forensic unit, including fingerprint experts and photographers, typically work in civilian attire. Vests have been issued to them to improve their visibility at crime scenes and large gatherings. The vests are printed with 'Police' on the front and their respective unit names on the back, aiding in identification.
The dogs in the dog squad have been given harnesses with 'Police K9' printed on them.
