The committee tasked with developing world-class infrastructure at Osmania University met on Saturday to review initial proposals for the proposed ₹1,000-crore modernisation project.
The meeting discussed the informtion recorded during field visits to top institutes such as Indian School of Business (ISB) and IIT Hyderabad. The first draft of proposals that was prepared based on these visits, included aspects such as focus on creating student-centric infrastructure and improving academic, research, and recreational facilities.
The presentations were made by the team from Telangana Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation (TGEWIDC), which displayed preliminary layouts and structural concepts for the redevelopment. The plans emphasise sustainability, integrating green design, modern learning spaces, and improved residential and sports amenities.
The committee, chaired by Advisor to the Government K. Keshava Rao, and attended by Principal Secretary (Education) Yogitha Rana and senior executives of the Education Department, offered feedback on the designs and highlighted the need for phased development to minimise disruption to academic activities.
The panel is scheduled to reconvene next week with more plans and detailed project components.
