Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a state visit to Seychelles from June 27 to 29 at the invitation of President Dr Patrick Herminie. He will attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Seychelles’ National Day as the Guest of Honour, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Ahead of his visit, PM Modi took to X and wrote,"Leaving for Seychelles, where I will take part in their National Day celebrations. This year, it is even more special because it is the Golden Jubilee celebrations. Seychelles is a valued maritime neighbour and a key partner in our Vision MAHASAGAR, as well as in advancing the interests of the Global South. I look forward to discussions with my friend, Dr. Patrick Herminie, President of the Republic of Seychelles. "
“I am honoured to be addressing the National Assembly of Seychelles during the visit. I also look forward to meeting the Indian community there," he added.

Bilateral Talks With President Herminie
PM Modi is scheduled to hold discussions with President Herminie to review the progress in bilateral ties and explore ways to further strengthen cooperation. The talks will build on the outcomes of the Seychellois President’s State visit to India in February 2026.
Historic Address To National Assembly
During the visit, the Prime Minister will become the first Indian Prime Minister to address the National Assembly of Seychelles. The address is being seen as a reflection of the strong democratic values and parliamentary traditions shared by the two nations.
Focus On Maritime Cooperation and Global South
India considers Seychelles a valued maritime neighbour and an important partner in its Vision MAHASAGAR initiative, as well as in promoting the interests of the Global South. The visit is expected to further enhance cooperation in the Indian Ocean region and advance the shared vision of a secure, peaceful and prosperous maritime neighbourhood.

Marking 50 Years Of Diplomatic Relations
India and Seychelles are celebrating five decades of diplomatic ties this year. According to the Prime Minister, the relationship is anchored in mutual trust, shared democratic values, respect for diversity and deep people-to-people bonds, and the visit is expected to further deepen this longstanding partnership.
