Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Bihar on Thursday (May 29, 2025) on a two-day visit.

He is scheduled to launch development projects worth ₹50,000 crore during the visit. This will be his third trip to the election-bound State in the last five months. He is likely to visit Bihar again on June 20.

The local BJP office was bustling with activity on Wednesday (May 28, 2025) as leaders and workers were making last-minute preparations to welcome Mr. Modi.

32 welcome arches

Mr. Modi will reach Patna on May 29 to inaugurate the Jayprakash Narayan International Airport’s new integrated terminal building constructed at a cost of ₹ 1,200 crore, and also lay the foundation stone of a new civil enclave at the Bihta airport, which is about 30 km away from the State capital.

Thereafter, he will hold a six-km roadshow from the Patna airport to the State BJP headquarters on the Beer Chand Patel road, for which as many 32 welcome arches have been erected by the BJP leaders. Party workers and supporters will shower flower petals on Mr. Modi from these 32 makeshift platforms. “Over one lakh people will be welcoming the PM during his roadshow tomorrow [May 29] in Patna,” said BJP MLA and Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitin Nabin, who is in charge of the roadshow in Patna.

At the State party headquarters, Mr. Modi will meet local party workers and leaders apparently to give a pep talk for the Assembly election, due in October-November this year.

He had earlier visited the State in February and April. On May 4, he inaugurated Khelo India Youth Games 2025 at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna through video conferencing.

Rally at Bikramganj

On May 30, Mr. Modi will address a public rally at Bikramganj in Rohtas district, said former State party president and MP Sanjay Jaiswal. “Over five lakh people are expected to come…five German hanger tents have been put up there,” he said. People from neighbouring Bhojpur and Buxar districts too are expected to visit the rally at Bikramganj.

“Our party’s biggest leader PM Modi may visit Bihar again on June 20 but the venue has not been decided yet,” said a senior State party leader.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary from the JD(U), the BJP’s alliance partner, said: “Whenever PM visits Bihar, he brings along major development projects, and this visit will be no exception.”

At the Bikramganj rally, the Prime Minister is to gift development projects worth ₹50,000 crore to the State. He is scheduled to lay the foundation stone of a 1,500-MW super thermal power plant to be built at a cost of ₹29,947 crore at Nabinagar in Aurangabad district. This will be second largest power generation plant of the National Thermal Power Corporation in the country. He will also inaugurate some rail and road projects, said senior State BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.

However, the Opposition Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) and the Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Mahasabha (ABKM) have announced that they would stage protests at eight places in the area urging Mr. Modi to address their long-standing demand for the construction of the Indrapuri reservoir and modernisation of the Sone canal system. “He [PM Modi] has repeatedly been ignoring farmers’ demands. He must address them this time,” said CPI(M-L) State secretary Kunal and ABKM leader Umesh Singh.
