Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, on Saturday, where he is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth around Rs 2,200 crore.

The projects cover key sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban development and cultural preservation.

According to an official statement, the visit is scheduled for August 2, and the Prime Minister will address a public gathering at around 11 AM.

PM’s Schedule For Varanasi Visit

The Prime Minister will launch several major infrastructure projects, including the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi-Bhadohi and Chhitauni-Shool Tankeshwar roads. He will also inaugurate a new rail overbridge at Hardattpur to ease traffic congestion on the Mohan Sarai-Adalpura route.

Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for road upgrades in areas such as Dalmandi, Lahartara-Kotwa, Gangapur, and Babatpur, and for new railway overbridges at Level Crossing 22C and Khalispur Yard.

To strengthen the region’s power infrastructure, projects under the Smart Distribution initiative and the undergrounding of electrical networks—worth over Rs 880 crore—will also be launched.

In the tourism and cultural sector, PM Modi will inaugurate redevelopment works at eight riverfront ‘kuccha ghats’, Kalika Dham, Rangildas Kutiya in Shivpur, and Durgakund. He will lay the foundation stone for the restoration of the Kardameshwar Mahadev temple and Munshi Premchand’s ancestral home, which will be turned into a museum.

For water conservation, the Prime Minister will oversee the restoration and purification of traditional water bodies such as Ramkund, Mandakini, and Shankuldhara. He will also inaugurate 47 rural drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

In education, PM Modi will inaugurate upgraded facilities in 53 municipal school buildings and lay the foundation stone for a new district library and upgrades to schools in Jakhini and Lalpur.

Healthcare projects include the inauguration of robotic surgery and CT scan facilities at two major cancer hospitals. A new Homoeopathic College and Hospital, along with a dog care centre, will also be set up.

As part of his vision for better sports facilities, PM Modi will inaugurate a synthetic hockey turf at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium. He will also launch new infrastructure for law enforcement, including a multipurpose hall for the PAC and barracks for Quick Response Teams.

During the event, Modi will release the 20th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme, transferring over Rs 20,500 crore to more than 9.7 crore farmers. This will take the total disbursement under the scheme to over Rs 3.9 lakh crore.

He will also launch a new registration portal for various youth competitions under the Kashi Sansad Pratiyogita and distribute more than 7,400 assistive aids to beneficiaries.
