PM Narendra Modi Urges Youth To Pursue Sports, Says Their Spirit Shows India's Strength

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised youth at Sansad Khel Mahotsav, encouraging discipline and sportsmanship.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi as exhorted the nation’s youth to engage in sports and contribute to the nation. In a message to the participants of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav, he commended the young people for their healthy lifestyles and urged them to be disciplined, hardworking, and confident in order to achieve their goals.

PM Modi interacted with Shanti Kumari, a young athlete who took part in the event organised by MP Dilip Sakia in the Darrang-Udalguri Lok Sabha constituency.

He wished her success in her future endeavors and advised her to practice kabaddi regularly. “Keep on practising hard. I also wish you very well for your 10th examination, and I hope you make the country proud in the future," said PM Modi.

During his interaction with a 14-year-old athlete, PM Modi inquired about her ability to play cycle polo and kabaddi simultaneously. He congratulated her on her performance in both sports and encouraged her to make sports her strength. “There’s an abundance of talent in India. You are playing two games simultaneously. Make them your strength and when the time comes to choose one sport, then choose wisely. I congratulate you," PM Modi stated.

Speaking to young boxer Neeraj, PM Modi motivated him to aim for a medal for the country. “Should I believe that you’ll bring a medal for the country?" PM Modi asked, reassuring the athlete that he was not pressuring him. “I am joking, I am not pressuring you. Keep practising and don’t worry about diet and exposure. We will provide that."

PM Modi remarked that the players’ enthusiasm, spirit, and excitement provided a glimpse of India’s strength. “Just now, I was talking to some of the participating players in this competition. Their enthusiasm, their spirit, their excitement, I could see a glimpse of India’s strength. The confidence I saw within these players today fills millions of Indian youths with the same belief. That’s why, in startups, space, science, and sports, India’s youth have been waving their flag high in every field," he said.

The Sansad Khel Mahotsav took place from December 23 to December 25. More than just a series of competitions, it is a movement aimed at instilling discipline, teamwork, and leadership among the youth. Recognised as the largest sporting event ever organised in the Raver Lok Sabha constituency, the event demonstrates a strong commitment to nurturing sporting excellence at the grassroots level.
