Police constable arrested for sexual harassment of teen girl in Villupuram

A police constable attached to the Brammadesam police station in Villupuram district was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for alleged sexual harassment of a 17-year-old girl.

Police said the action was taken based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family with the Tindivanam All Women Police Station.

According to police, the girl was walking alone on the Tindivanam - Marakkanam Road on November 5, 2025 when constable Ilango attached to the Brammadesam police station offered to drop the victim at her home on his motorcycle.

The constable sexually harassed the victim following which she raised an alarm. He fled the spot. Based on a complaint, a case was registered against Ilango against various Sections of POCSO Act. Later, he was arrested.
