In an appalling incident, a police officer had to be placed in an induced coma due to injuries resulting from fireworks during PSG’s UEFA Champions League celebrations in Normandy on Sunday. Initial suggestions state that the officer was struck in the eye after a firework went off accidentally.
PSG clinched their maiden UCL title with a 5-0 hammering of Italian heavyweights Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, to spark riotous celebrations across France.
Gauthier Poupeau, a public prosecutor for the northwestern town of Coutances, stated that, “An investigation has been opened for intentional violence against a person in a position of public authority."
