Panaji: The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has said that some individuals impersonating its officials have been contacting industries and establishments across the state and threatening them with closure if they fail to pay money. The board has asked the public to remain vigilant against such fraudsters and has set up a help desk (9356709461) for any queries or assistance.“These individuals also falsely claim that they can ensure that any action by the board can be prevented provided the industry pays them an amount as a bribe. Some of them also falsely represent that they can ensure that the board grants its consent to an industry. They are cheating industries into depositing consent fees into their own bank accounts ,” said the board in a public notice.
