Ponda: The national highway division of the PWD has resumed the road work of the Ponda KTC underpass after they could finally demolish the wall that obstructed the work. The wall was protected as a gas pipeline was passing through it.Even as the RCC structure was ready, construction of the road was pending for the want of shifting of the natural gas pipelines that cross across the underpass. The Goa Natural Gas company recently shifted its pipeline that carries gas used by households in cooking. A mud wall of about 4m wide was protected to prevent the pipeline from crashing.Work on the underpass is being carried out on a war footing. The contractor has already commissioned half of the underpass. The completion of the underpass is important as the widening of the national highway stretch between Shapur-Ponda and Bhoma village will be taken up only after the underpass is ready.
