Popular Odia singer Humane Sagar passes away at 34, CM Mohan Charan Majhi and Naveen Patnaik mourn his loss

The Odia music industry is mourning the heartbreaking loss of popular singer Humane Sagar, who passed away on Monday evening at just 34. His sudden demise has left fans and the industry devastated, marking the end of a voice that defined an entire generation of Odia music lovers.Sagar was brought to the AIIMS Bhubaneswar emergency department on October 14 around 1:10 pm in a critical state. Despite continuous efforts by doctors, he succumbed to multi-organ dysfunction syndrome.After admission, he was shifted to the Medical ICU for a series of investigations and intensive treatment. His health had deteriorated rapidly in the days leading up to his death.Two days before his passing, Odisha’s former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had posted a message praying for his recovery.“Concerned to know that popular singer Humane Sagar is hospitalized. Pray for his swift and complete recovery... Get well soon, Humane Sagar,” he wrote on Twitter.

Official confirmation from AIIMS Bhubaneswar

AIIMS Bhubaneswar issued an official bulletin confirming his death, stating, “Humane Sagar did not respond to treatment in spite of all aggressive and advanced care provided by an expert team of specialist doctors and expired at 9:08 pm on November 17.”

The hospital further detailed that he had been admitted with bilateral pneumonia, acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF), dilated cardiomyopathy, severe LV systolic dysfunction, refractory shock, severe respiratory failure, acute kidney injury, encephalopathy, thrombocytopenia and coagulopathy.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep sorrow, “His demise is an irreparable loss to our music and cinema.

I extend my condolences to the bereaved family. Om Shanti.”Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik shared his grief too, “Humane Sagar’s soulful music touched countless hearts. His contributions to Odia music will always remain memorable.”Born in Titlagarh, Bolangir district, Humane Sagar rose to fame with the title track of Ishq Tu Hi Tu, composed by Abhijit Majumdar. His emotional depth, raw power, and expressive singing style made him one of Odisha’s most loved artists.During his career, he recorded hundreds of Odia film songs and delivered notable albums including Niswasa, Bekhudee, Tuma Otha Tale, and Chehera (2017).He also released a Hindi album titled Mera Yeh Jahan.As news of his passing spread, fans across Odisha took to social media to share memories, post emotional tributes, and express their sorrow. His songs—many of which became household favourites—continue to trend online as admirers revisit his legacy.
