I’ll be buying a silver bracelet on Dhanteras

Actor Pratham Kunwar cherishes fond Dhanteras and Diwali memories. He continues the tradition of buying something auspicious on Dhanteras, planning a silver bracelet this year.

Actor Pratham Kunwar, currently seen as the titular character Nirvair in Jhalee, has been part of shows like Beti Hamari Anmol, Yeh Hai Chahatein, Meet, Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega, and Humkadam. As the festive season begins, he looks back on his Dhanteras and Diwali memories with warmth and nostalgia. “I do try to buy something on Dhanteras every year. It started when I began earning on my own, maybe around the time my first TV show Siya Ke Ram started. Before that, I would see my parents buying something every year — it’s considered auspicious. This time, I’ll be buying a silver bracelet,” he says. For the actor, Diwali is about family, rituals, and the joy of togetherness rather than grand plans. “It’s the biggest celebration in India.

We perform Laxmi Puja at home, meet family and friends, and play cards or fun games through the night. It’s believed that Goddess Laxmi arrives on Diwali night, so we keep the doors open and stay awake to welcome prosperity and positivity.” Reminiscing about his childhood, he shares, “I miss those days when we lived in Dadar. My sister and I would make rangoli by hand every day — no stencils or ready-made patterns. Bursting crackers with friends, going to Shivaji Park Chowpatty to light rockets, and sleeping on the terrace after making flower garlands for the puja — those were truly special times.” “This year, I’ll be shooting during Diwali, but I’m sure my co-actors and I will celebrate together on set and make it special,” he adds.
