Concluding her two-day visit to the city, President Droupadi Murmu, on Tuesday, visited the Mysuru Palace, where she was hosted by Pramoda Devi Wadiyar of the erstwhile royal family.

The President, accompanied by her daughter Itishree Murmu and Governor Thawarchand Gehlot, was received by members of the royal family, including Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar. Ms. Murmu joined them for breakfast.

“I am immensely happy and proud to have received the President of India and the Governor of Karnataka at my residence. I profoundly thank them for graciously accepting my invitation,” Ms. Wadiyar said.

During the visit, the President toured select sections of the palace, including the trophy room and the armoury.

A traditional Mysuru breakfast was curated in her honour, featuring tender coconut water, fresh fruits such as kiwi, plums, and papaya, alongside Shavige Upma, Mysore Masala Dosa, Idli, Sambhar, Chutney, Sabbakki Vada, Mysore Pak, Wheat Halbai, and Badam Halwa. Ragi and wheat cookies, tea, and coffee were served in line with the President’s food preferences, Ms. Wadiyar said, in a release.

“The President relished the Mysuru cuisine, and it was a moment of immense honour and joy to host her,” she added.

Ms. Trishika Kumari Wadiyar, wife of Mr. Yaduveer, and their son were also present during the occasion.

The President, who arrived in Mysuru on Monday to attend the diamond jubilee celebrations of the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), was later given a warm send-off at the city airport by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Governor Gehlot.
