Coalition for Sex Workers, Sexual and Gender Minority Rights on Monday took out a march
Mysuru: Members of Coalition for Sex Workers, Sexual and Gender Minority Rights (CSGMR) took out a pride march as part of Karnataka Swabhimana Habba in Chamarajanagar town on Monday, demanding the central and state govts to protect their rights and interests.
After marching from Chamarajeshwara Temple till Rajkumar Kalamandira, they said the habba is more than a festival and is like a people’s movement aiming to build solidarity and advance social justice.They urged the govt to immediately withdraw the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act-2026 and bring in an ordinance rejecting the same. They also appealed to establish a Gender and Sexual Minorities Welfare Board with adequate transgender representation and for the effective implementation of Karnataka State Policy on Transgenders-2017. The participants urged the govt to provide free healthcare for sexual minorities in govt hospitals.
