Properties Linked To 1993 Mumbai Blast Accused Tiger Memon, His Family To Be Auctioned

Four properties are reportedly still under court dispute, while five others are in the process of being seized.

Several properties belonging to Tiger Memon, the main accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts, and his family are set to be auctioned soon.

According to sources, the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Authority (SAFEMA) has received details of 17 properties registered in the names of Tiger Memon and his family members from the special TADA court.

Out of these, eight properties have already been taken over by SAFEMA, including three flats in Al Husseini Building located in Mahim, central Mumbai.

This was once the residence of Tiger Memon, his five brothers, and their mother, and is believed to be the site where a key meeting in the conspiracy took place. Explosives were reportedly planted in vehicles inside the same building.

Four properties are reportedly still under court dispute, while five others are in the process of being seized. The central government has also started assessing the value of the confiscated properties ahead of their auction.

The 12 March 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts claimed 257 lives and caused explosions at 12 different locations across the city. Tiger Memon has been absconding since the attacks, and authorities believe he is hiding in Pakistan.

His brother, Yakub Memon, was executed in 2015 for his role in the conspiracy, while other members of the Memon family were handed different sentences by the TADA court.
