A Pulse Polio campaign will be conducted across Mysuru district from June 28 to July 1.
Participating in a preparatory meeting of the campaign in Mysuru on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy has appealed to parents and guardians to ensure that every child below five years of age receives the Pulse Polio vaccine without fail.
While the polio drops will be administered at the designated vaccination booths across the district on June 28, health workers will conduct door-to-door visits from June 29 to July 1 to ensure that every child below five years of age is vaccinated.
A four-day special campaign will also be conducted in high-risk areas and transit locations under the theme “Every Drop Counts, Every Child Matters.”
A target has been set to vaccinate a total of 2,19,521 children under the age of five in the district as part of the National Immunisation Day 2026. The Health Department is prepared to cover 7,78,059 households across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed officials of municipal corporations, municipalities and town councils to appoint dedicated nodal officers and prepare action plans to prevent any decline in vaccination coverage in urban areas, particularly in Mysuru city.
He also instructed CESC to ensure uninterrupted power supply to primary health centres from June 26 to July 2 to maintain the vaccine cold chain and preserve ice packs used for storage and transportation.
Mysuru District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. P.C. Kumaraswamy said a total of 1,641 vaccination booths had been set up across the district as part of the extensive preparations to ensure the success of the campaign.
51 mobile and transit teams, 328 supervisors and 6,772 vaccination personnel too will be deployed for the campaign.
The Deputy Commissioner has instructed that polio awareness rallies should be conducted in all schools on June 26 and 27.
Parents of children enrolled in preschools, LKG and UKG classes should also be motivated to ensure their children receive the vaccine, he said.
