Deputy Commissioner Harshal Bhoyar has directed officers to ensure that children below five years of age are administered with vaccine during the Pulse Polio drive which will begin in Yadgir on December 21.

Addressing officials during a meeting held here on Monday, he said, “The rural areas will be covered on December 22 and 23, while the house visits will be from December 22 to 24. The officers must compulsorily visit every house and vaccinate children and ensure that no child is left out,” he said.

The RCH, Tahsildars, Anganwadis and ASHA workers, Panchayat Development Officers and staff members should extend coordination. The officials have been told to cover public places, including bus stands and railway stations,” Mr. Bhoyar said.

Before the drive, an awareness programme should be conducted, and transportation facilities should be arranged for the officers on duty, he said.

The department has aimed to vaccinate 1,66,693 children below six years. As many as 664 booth-level vaccination teams have already been formed. Apart from that, 1,412 vaccination staff, five mobile teams, 261 mobile teams for high-risk areas, and 403 teams to reach every house have been formed.

District Health Officer Mahesh Biradar, District RCH Officer Mallappa, Anilkumar and others were present.
