Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann, recovering at Fortis Hospital, is closely monitoring flood relief efforts and is expected to resume his duties soon

CHANDIGARH: Punjab chief secretary K A P Sinha on Sunday said chief minister Bhagwant Mann was recovering fast and "expected to join us on the ground in a day or two", even as a meeting of the state cabinet had been called on Monday."Showcasing an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people, Punjab chief minister Mann has been closely monitoring the state's massive relief and rescue operations right from his hospital bed," an official said on Sunday.While recovering at Fortis Hospital, the CM held a meeting with chief secretary Sinha, director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, and other officers. "Expressing deep concern over the prevailing situations due to floods, the chief minister has directed the chief secretary that not even a single citizen, affected by the natural fury, be left behind; besides, ensuring food, drinking water, and medical aid to them, especially those isolated and cut off from the mainland," the spokesperson stated.Sinha stated the CM was recovering fast. "His heart and mind remain steadfastly with thousands of families affected by the recent floods and downpour. Punjab govt stands united and determined to heal the wounds of the floods and rebuild every broken home," he added.During the meeting, the chief minister was apprised of the ground situation.
