According to the poll panel’s instructions, the marked ballot must reach the returning officer before the counting of votes from 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

The 2025 Vice-Presidential contest is between the NDA nominee C.P. Radhakrishnan and the Opposition candidate, retired Supreme Court judge Justice Sudershan Reddy.

Mr. Singh and nine of his associates were detained under the National Security Act (NSA) and lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail more than two years ago. Seven of them were transferred to Punjab in two batches in March.

The other two in the eastern Assam jail with the MP are Varinder Singh Johal and Papalpreet Singh.
