Russian President Putin has no plans to speak with US President Trump after US airstrikes on Iran, said Kremlin spokesperson Peskov. A call could be arranged if needed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has no current plans to speak with US President Donald Trump after American airstrikes on Iran, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Sunday. However, he added that a call could be ‘arranged swiftly if needed’.

The comments came after the US launched attacks on Iranian nuclear sites. Earlier today, Trump announced that the US military had targeted three Iranian nuclear facilities, including the underground uranium enrichment site at Fordo. He said Iran must now “agree to end this war", as fighting between Iran and Israel entered its 10th day.

The US strikes also came after days of speculation over whether America would join Israel’s bombing campaign. Trump described the operation as a “very successful attack".

In response, Iran accused the US of destroying diplomatic efforts by joining the conflict on Israel’s side.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he would travel to Moscow for talks with President Putin on Monday. Speaking at a press conference in Istanbul during an OIC summit, Araghchi said, “I’m going to Moscow this afternoon and will have serious consultations with the Russian president tomorrow."
