Browns activate rookie RB Quinshon Judkins, set for NFL debut vs Ravens
The Cleveland Browns are finally unleashing their rookie running back. Quinshon Judkins, the team’s second-round pick from the 2025 draft, has been activated to the 53-man roster and is set to make his NFL debut this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens.
After a preseason filled with setbacks from legal drama to a delayed contract and a recent shoulder concern, Judkins will finally get his shot in the backfield. For a Browns offense desperate for a ground game spark, his timing couldn’t be better.
Browns officially activate Quinshon Judkins after a rollercoaster summer
Judkins’ path to the NFL field has been anything but smooth. Drafted 36th overall, the rookie entered camp with high expectations but missed nearly all of training camp and the preseason while dealing with off-field legal issues.
Charges were eventually dropped, and the Browns signed him to his rookie deal just days before the season opener.
Now, with his contract finalized and recovery on track, the team has officially activated him for Week 2. To make space, the Browns waived wide receiver Gage Larvadain. Head coach Kevin Stefanski called it “a fresh start” for Judkins and noted that the rookie is eager to prove himself.
Cleveland’s rushing attack was a major disappointment in Week 1.
The Browns managed just 49 total rushing yards, leaving quarterback Deshaun Watson to shoulder the offensive load. Veterans like Kareem Hunt weren’t able to establish consistency, and the offense clearly lacked explosiveness in the run game.
That’s where Judkins comes in. Known in college for his bruising style and ability to break tackles, he brings both physicality and fresh energy to a stagnant backfield. Facing a tough Ravens defense isn’t exactly the easiest debut, but the Browns need his presence to open up the offense and keep Baltimore honest.
What to expect from Judkins in his first NFL action
Fans should temper expectations for Week 2. Because Judkins missed so much practice time, his role will likely be limited. Don’t expect him to carry the ball 20 times right away. Instead, look for him in situational plays, short-yardage downs, red-zone carries, or as a change-of-pace option to give Hunt a break.
Long-term, though, the Browns see Judkins as a key piece in their offense. If he adjusts quickly, he could emerge as the primary backfield option before the season’s midpoint. His debut may be small in volume but big in significance, marking the beginning of his NFL career after a chaotic start. Also read - Patriots trade WR Ja’Lynn Polk to Saints in surprising draft pick swap despite shoulder injury
