The appearance day of Radha, the mythical companion of Lord Krishna, was celebrated with great reverence at Krishna temples across Tirupati.
At the Lotus Temple managed by International Society for Krsna Consciousness (ISKCON) at Alipiri, the event was conducted in a festive atmosphere, where the priests gave a celestial bath to the idols of Lord Krishna and Radha. The gathering of devotees chanted ‘Radhe Radhe’ apart from ‘Hare Krishna’ on the occasion.
ISKCON’s Tirupati temple president Revati Ramandas, in his address, said that ‘Radha Rani’, the daughter of King Vrishabhanu, appeared fifteen days after Krishna’s birth and hence her birthday is observed exactly a fortnight after Sri Krishna Krishnashtami.
A huge congregation of devotees gathered at the temple for the occasion.
