A credit war broke out between Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi after the latter praised the recruitment of around 30,000 workers at Foxconn's new women-headed iPhone unit in Bengaluru. Gandhi called the feat a "transformative job creation" in a post on Facebook two days ago, commending Congress-ruled Karnataka for creating a favourable work ecosystem. However, Vaishnaw responded with a cheeky response, thanking the Congress leader for "acknowledging the success of PM Narendra Modi's Make in India programme".
Rahul Gandhi shared a newspaper clipping of Foxconn's hiring news on Facebook two days before. "Karnataka is setting an example by creating an ecosystem where manufacturing can grow at this speed and scale," he wrote.
The Leader of Opposition also said this is the type of India that must be built. "Jobs with dignity, and opportunities for all."
Vaishnaw thanked Gandhi for his "acknowledgment". "As you have noted, we are becoming a producer economy as we implement our PM's vision," he tweeted.
