The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday (May 25, 2026) reiterated its allegation that Leader of the Opposition (Lok Sabha) Rahul Gandhi was attempting to spread “anarchy” and “instability”.

At a press conference, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said India’s economy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership was strong and would emerge even stronger. “However, Rahul Gandhi is the product of a destructive, anarchic, immature, and foolish ‘toolkit’ model...he claims that this government, which is serving the people steadfastly, will collapse within a year,” alleged Mr. Bhatia.

In a post on X, Union Minister Piyush Goyal had on Sunday (May 24) targeted Mr. Gandhi, quoting a news report which claimed that at a Congress minority advisory committee meeting on May 23, he purportedly said Mr. Modi-led government would fall within a year owing to a “growing economic discontent”.

Mr. Bhatia said: “Since he made a prediction, let us also say what feedback we receive from the people: within a year, Congress itself will split into two factions. Congress will break, and the arrogance of these fake leaders will shatter. Many Congress leaders themselves do not agree with such anti-India and anarchic statements from the Leader of the Opposition.”

“If your aim, Rahul Gandhi, is to spread chaos, then our resolve is to make India stronger. You may try with all your might, but we are equally determined to take India forward,” he said, alleging that the Congress leader wanted to destroy the “democratic system” itself as he could not come to power democratically.

“When he goes abroad, he says democracy has ended in India. In India, he calls the Prime Minister a traitor. Why this hatred? Can a Leader of the Opposition not serve the country while remaining in Opposition? At a time when the country needs every citizen, Rahul Gandhi, can you not fulfil your duties as a citizen?,” he asked.
