Monsoon showers continue to affect lives in several parts of the country, with the west coast expected to bear the brunt of it again on Friday (May 30, 2025).

On Friday morning, the Dakshina Kannada district administration declared a holiday for all anganwadis, primary, and high schools in Mangaluru, Ullal, and Bantwal taluks in view of the heavy rains. An orange alert was declared.

On the east coast, parts of West Bengal witnessed heavy rains on Thursday (May 29, 2025). A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal crossed the West Bengal-Bangladesh coast on Thursday, prompting alerts across coastal regions and warnings to fisherfolk to avoid venturing into the sea for the next five days due to rough conditions.
