Acclaimed actress Rakhee Gulzar is returning to Bengali cinema with Aamar Boss, a multi-generational drama that makes its world digital premiere. Directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, the film has already made its mark at the 55th International Film Festival of India in Goa and the 22nd Chennai International Film Festival.The cast features Shiboprosad Mukherjee, Srabanti Chatterjee, Sauraseni Maitra, and Gourab Chatterjee, alongside Rakhee in a central role. The story revolves around Animesh (Mukherjee), a publishing house owner juggling professional and personal struggles, and his mother Shubhra (Rakhee Gulzar), a retired nurse who unexpectedly re-enters his life. Through their evolving bond, the film explores themes of love, dignity, ageing, and the complex emotional ties between parents and adult children.The filmmakers describe Aamar Boss as a heartfelt tale that blends humor, tenderness, and resilience. Speaking about the project, Nandita Roy said the film “speaks of ageing, relevance, and love within families in a way we rarely see on screen.” Shiboprosad added that every frame of the film is “a tribute to mothers, rediscovery, and the quiet resilience of age.”
