Aryna Sabalenka may have fallen short of the WTA Finals crown in Riyadh, but she’s ending 2025 with a record-breaking distinction — the most lucrative season in women’s tennis history.

The world No. 1 earned at least $15,008,519 in prize money this year, shattering the long-standing record of $12,385,572 set by Serena Williams back in 2013. Williams’ record season included three major titles and a staggering 78-4 win-loss tally.

Sabalenka’s 2025 haul officially marks a new financial high-water mark in the sport. Her second straight US Open title alone netted her a massive $5 million, while her runner-up finish to Elena Rybakina at the WTA Finals added another $2.695 million.

Earlier in the year, Sabalenka reached the finals of both the Australian Open and Roland Garros, combining for an additional $2.5 million-plus in prize money.

Even without accounting for her endorsements and off-court earnings, which Forbes pegged at $18.7 million total in 2024, Sabalenka’s 2025 on-court performance stands as the most profitable season ever by a female tennis player.

Despite missing out on the $5.235 million champion’s prize in Riyadh, Sabalenka remained composed in defeat.

“I guess by making these mistakes over and over again, next time I’ll show up in big matches with better control," she reflected after her loss to Rybakina. “She played incredible. I had a few chances and didn’t use them. That’s tennis."

Her numbers tell the real story: 63 match wins, 10,870 ranking points, and the year-end world No. 1 ranking — along with the richest single-season prize total in WTA history.
