Ranchi: With Durga Puja around the corner, the Ranchi district administration has rolled out a detailed plan to ensure smooth festivities, prioritising safety, uninterrupted electricity supply, and civic management.
An inter-departmental meeting held on Thursday brought together senior officials from the electricity, road construction, and drinking water and sanitation departments to finalise preparations.Officials confirmed that all major pandals will be supplied with uninterrupted electricity, with a ban on illegal connections and strict checks to avoid open wiring. Fire safety arrangements are to be made mandatory at every venue.
Puja committees will also be required to submit certificates confirming compliance with prescribed safety norms.“Our objective is to ensure that devotees celebrate without facing safety risks or civic inconveniences. Every department has been asked to plug gaps in advance,” DC Manjunath Bhajantri saidCrowd movement and sanitation emerged as key concerns. The administration instructed that all manholes and roadside drains in pandal areas be securely covered with slabs to prevent accidents.
Sanitation supervisors will be deployed at major pandals and adjoining stretches to ensure timely cleaning during peak days.“Special guidelines have also been issued for amusement rides and fairs, which must meet safety standards and operate only with authorised power connections,” Bhajantri added.Surveillance and traffic management are being reinforced, with CCTV cameras to be installed at Kanta Toli flyover, a spot that also saw waterlogging during recent rainfall. Engineers have been tasked with preventing a repeat of the problem.The meeting, chaired by DC Bhajantri, also reviewed inter-departmental coordination to address last-minute lapses.
