 Thunderstorms and Lightning Expected from September 15 to 18

Ranchi: The Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by gusty wind with speed up to 30-40 kmph in many places across the state from September 15 till 8.30am on September 18.Vishwakarma Puja will be held on September 17.The head of Ranchi Met office, Abhishek Anand, said, “A low pressure area exists over north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha. It is moving across south Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and onwards to Chhattisgarh. Moisture, with the easterly and southeasterly wind, is reaching Jharkhand. Rising temperature mixed with moisture during the first half of the day helps in forming clouds, which leads to thunder cloud, lightning and rainfall.

The bulletin released by the Met office on Sunday stated that monsoon activity was weak over the state in the past 24 hours. Light to moderate rainfall was observed at isolated places. Padma received 20mm rain, Latehar 15.5mm, Simdega 14.8mm, Barhi 12.2mm, Koderma 11mm, Ramgarh 9.6mm, Tilaiya 7.6mm, and Tenughat (Bokaro) received 24.6 mm, the highest rainfall in the state.The highest maximum temperature of 34°C was recorded at Chaibasa, while the lowest minimum temperature of 21.2°C was recorded at Latehar.
